peru ana | ana peru

i always saw these words graffitied around the east village, never really knowing what they stood for. then i looked up their facebook page, and learned that they're just a couple of artists tagging their way through the city. see here.

this really has no other significance to me, other than that as i embark on my journey to peru, the actual country, i can't help but think of 'ana peru' because in arabic, ana means, me or i, so naturally, i insert "going to" in my head. ana going to peru.

i have very few and very little expectations for peru. i don't know much about the culture or the history, but it never had the same kind of appeal that eastern countries like india, china, morocco, thailand, etc, do. but i think that the lack of expectations means that i will be completely blown away by it.

i will be there flying solo, as usual, for the next 15 days. can't wait to see machu picchu and eat ceviche!!!
